- - reading the negativity on all sides. Lighten up, accept that SD, and in particular MSD is suffering from dwindling attendances - it's a fact! We have to learn to live with that.
Moans about favouritism, cronyism or otherwise from judges towards certain inventors are not new and really, you don't enter any competitive situation without knowing you may not win, and you may get knocked out in the first round, no matter who you are or how good you, or your friends think your entry actually is!
Better to think about how you are able to improve attendances to and in your own local areas -- change of programmes? music? presentation? better hall? better floor?
Such is life!
With the downturn in Modern Sequence attendances, I'm going to cut back on the SDO website at
which makes sense in my time management problems, and should require less updating.
If there's anything you would like to me archive let me know, but I may in fact create an archive section - - I have yet to decide.
Take Care, keep on dancing!
Due to the adverse weather conditions here (around 25 to 30 cm of snow), all Community Centres in Edinburgh are closed today and tomorrow, affecting all tea dances and dancing known about.
West Lothian is also severely affected, Friday and Sauturday dances likely cancelled, check with organisers before travelling.
Midlothian is also dificult, check before trying to attend.
Friday afternoon at Carrickvale is cancelled I'm afraid due to the weather and the continued forecast! See you all next week.
Also have heard Duncan McBain has cancelled his sessions and as well Friday at Portobello is cancelled, although that is due to a previously notified funeral.
(these only make sense to those in the Edinburgh area)
Today, Ella was with me at our Monday Studio session and managed a walkthrough of some simpler dances. I hope this is the start of a full recovery from her recent troubles and we will be back dancing soon.
We are booked for Bridlington, but won't make it to Southport this year I'm afraid - - just not enough time to get fit!

So, having been away for over a month, I feel we need to get back to promotong SD as much as possible.
Do you have an entry here on our Dancing Events Page, for example? Costs you nothing except the time to enter your dance(s).
Have you an entry on "Are You Dancing" (Google it) - - nothing to do with me I might add, but entries are again free and only take up a tad of your time.
How about your local library or community centres, especially if you run a dance in a community venue? And often you can distribute an A5 size advert via the local authority internal mail for free if you ask nicely and hand in enough copies to cover their venues. [ Laminated is better for this if you can, they will last longer and it looks more professional ]
There are other free resources similar to "Are You Dancing", let us know here if you come across any, others may be able to use them as well.
This is just the start, any more ideas welcome
That's us back from an enjoyable time in Spain. Caught up with a lot of folks and danced Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday Tea Dances, Fridays and some Dinner Dances as well!
A bit much in some ways in the heat!
And then there's no doubting nine new dances out in the interim, plus some more from the UKA weekend as well!
Here we are in Spain, enjoying 25 deg plus and sunshine. We're dancing Monday, Tuesday, Wenesday Tea Dance and Friday (to Raymond Chuchuk live), plus we've a couple of Dinner Dances on the go as well!
It's hectic I tell 'eee!
Looking at bookings, we will have a tuition slot available from November when we get back, could be for Sequence or Ballroom/Latin, details soon in Events Page.
